The 27th Kristupas summer festival, which invited to the presentation of the program on the roof terrace of the "Neringa" hotel, revealed what this year's "World Music Garden" will look like. This theme will spread throughout July-August both through artists and spaces.
"Each festival is different. Every year we introduce a new program. However, one desire does not change - we aim to bring together a community that, like us, believes that there is no bad weather, bad mood or wrong place for music. This year's theme "Garden of World Music" means to me an oasis where multi-colored artists spread like exotic plants. For some it is a respite surrounded by music, for someone it is spices that diversify the taste of routine. I can say one thing for sure - this is a place where everyone is very welcome, where it's fun and cozy to meet," said Jurgita Murauskienė, head of Kristupas' summer festival.
Festival stars and new concert venues
On July 7 directly from Bilbao to St. The soprano Aušrinė Stundytė, the star of the most famous music festivals, and Calixto Bieito, the director of the Quentin Tarantino opera, bring their latest work to St. Catherine's Church - A. Schoenberg's Laukime.
Miloš Karadagličius, dubbed the "God of classical guitar" by music critics, is coming to Vilnius for the first time (July 22), and three artists will present their latest albums: Blues Blast Award nominee Bai Kamara Jr. with the works of the album "Salone" will go to Sierra Leone (July 21), as if in a light country of romance, "A Journey for the Soul" will be surrounded by the melodies of the most recorded classical music performer, conductor, composer Peteris Breiner (July 29), and Remis Rančys with a great company will invite "Pavėja" (July 28).
The festival surprises every year with new concert venues, so this year too it will invite you to the revived Trakai Vokė manor. In it on August 8 the music of the popular Ludovico Einaudi performed by Ieva Dūdaitė will be played. Another, new and unexpected place for Kristupa's picnics is the garden of the Karoliniškii Landscape Reserve Forest Edge Trail.
It will feature a musical fairy tale for the whole family (August 5) and a collection of best-loved French songs (August 12).
The culmination of the program is August 20. Sir Karl Jenkins' most famous work "Adiemus" will shake the courtyard of the Vilnius Picture Gallery. It will be performed by the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gintaras Rinkevičius and the joint choir of Aidija and the National MK Čiurlionis School of Arts. Born as a jingle for Delta airline advertising, today it amazes with its grandeur and ethnic colors. The composer's newly orchestrated version of "Symphonic Adiemus" will be performed in Vilnius.
In sacred music hours - duets
According to the artistic director of the cycle, Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur, this year the keyword of the "Hours of Sacred Music" cycle is duets. In almost every performance, the majestic abundance of the organ will be enriched by the beauty of vocals or the timbres of brass and strings. Various duets will be playing throughout the summer at Vilnius St. Kazimierz Church. Thanks to the long-term patron - the Kazicki Family Foundation, admission to the cycle concerts is free.
The rich program (a total of 13 concerts in Vilnius) is full of beautiful anniversaries: with Chiune Sugihara's memory concert, organized with the Japanese Embassy (July 1), the 80th anniversary of the marriage of Aleksandra and Juoz Kazicki (August 15), the first prof. The 75th anniversary of the organist Gediminas Kviklis, a student of Leopold Digris.
The symbols of the Kristupas summer festival are the singing bird created by the artist Petros Repšis and St. Kristoforas (Kristupas is a derivative of the name Kristoforas) is the patron saint of travelers and the city of Vilnius. They encode the broad musical essence of the festival panorama and the desire to reveal the beauty of the capital, after all, the bird is chirping for everyone and everywhere! Let's meet in the music oasis!
