September 21 the first-ever "Open Books" literary festival will invite you not only to get to know selected authors who have published their latest books, but also to organize a gourmet dinner in a unique format "prisiMENU", where not only food but also literature will be served chat menu. The organizers say that the biggest intrigue of the dinner is that it will not be known until you arrive with whom you will have to sit at the same table, but anyone will definitely be lucky, because they will be in the company of one of the dinner conversation guides: Algirdas Kaušpėdas, Aidus Puklevičius, Dovile Filmanavičiūtė, Eva Tombak, Linu Kojala, Valdus Papieviu, Erika Umbrasaite, Algirdus Kumža or Igna Staškevičius.
"A good dinner is unthinkable without a good conversation with it." Communication, ideas, impressions are more important and interesting experiences than just pairing food and wine. Therefore, we decided to try something unprecedented in Lithuania - a conversation dinner, during which previously unknown people will not only be able to quench their hunger, but also their thirst for intellectual communication", said A. Puklevičius, one of the creators of the Open Books festival, the dinner conversation guide.
Dinner as an additional part of the festival event, will take place in the premises of the National Art Gallery in a restaurant The Gallery. Intellectuals with a celebratory and literary attitude will gather there without knowing who will be his dinner and conversation company: only upon arrival, everyone will draw lots at whose table the conversation guide will sit. At one table, as expected, there will be six people discussing literary topics.
"Combining such wonderful things for your soul as good food, good literature and good companions is the scenario of my dream evening. Especially now, when the hours in the day seem to run out and the number one priority is the son. I'm already dreaming about what color I'll paint my lips and I'm in a hurry to read one hard nut so that as soon as I sit down at the table I'll ask everyone "So how's that Berger?" said D. Filmanavičiūtė, who was conducting a conversation at one of the tables during dinner.
In addition to food, attendees will also receive a menu of conversation topics. Everyone will be served a six-course tasting dinner, and the topic of conversation will be chosen by those sitting at the same table. The essence and interest of the whole conversation is that it will be moderated by a conversation guide and will be based on what the gathered guests remember from the literary works they have read. That is why the dinner is called "prisiMENU" - during it, the dinner guides will invite you to remember the ideas, thoughts, expressions found in books, even solutions or answers to questions that are important to everyone.
"Maybe about the fact that love has to be tragic to find its way into the pages of William Shakespeare?" Or maybe about the fact that the hero of the best novels must be misunderstood? Or maybe about the fact that the real journey is always the one at the end of which you return home, like what happened to Odysseus?", mentioned A. Puklevičius, who was making up the topics of the conversation and, by the way, would not reveal them until dinner.
It is true that the number of participants in the dinner is extremely limited, only about 50 people. The ticket price includes both food and the dinner program, which will last about two hours. The dinner will be held after the Open Books day program of the literary festival.
Tickets can already be purchased at Bilietai.lt, more information at Openbooks.lt.
