In the very heart of Vilnius Old Town, at the foot of Mount Gediminas, the apocalyptic amusement park "Utopia" opens its doors for the second season.
The location of "Utopia" is really special - in the nineteenth century there was a manor here, which, after the invasion of the Russian Empire, was turned into a prison for Lithuanian rebels, intellectuals and artists. Later, the building became the detention center of the city of Vilnius, which was closed a few years ago.
Now in the premises of the former detention center there is an exhibition "Traps with central heating" which has attracted a lot of attention. The exhibition covers the period from 1965 to 1993 and tells about the attempts of ordinary people to survive, think, communicate and engage in various creative forms of life, despite the ubiquitous molds of existence and household.
Utopia, located in the courtyard of a former prison, invites you to the opening of its second season on May 11 and gives the city of Vilnius and its guests a free a concert.
An impressive two-parter will await visitors on Saturday concert with the brightest contemporary musicians - the evening will be started by a guest from Ukraine, Make Like a Tree, after which the audience will be hypnotized by the Lithuanian indie band Migluma. In the second part of the evening, an ironic show is waiting, prepared by the eccentric Savimyla and Punktò.
During the opening of "Utopia", visitors will also have the opportunity to visit the premiere of Živilė Butvilaitė's concert photography exhibition "Three Songs".
The concert starts at 19:00, admission is free.
