Back in the summer, while walking along the path around Vilnius, I noticed a new information stand near the Belmont amusement park. In it, the Pūčkiori educational trail invited you to choose your destiny by following one of 3 routes of different lengths - 2,8 km, 3,7 km and 5,3 km long. A new, playfully designed information stand showed the changes in this path, which were only timed to become familiar with the introduction of restrictions in December.
It's not the most pleasant feeling to walk the sightseeing trails with a mask on. There is nowhere to take it off, because when the sun came out, all the people of Vilnius flocked to nature. Despite the fact that Belmont Amusement Park is closed, the parking lot is almost empty. If during the spring quarantine, the flow of visitors is suffocated Šilėnai educational trail, after the introduction of new restrictions, the Pūčkiori educational trail is also crowded.
I go straight from the car to the hanging bridge over Vilnelė. I saw a new information stand for the educational trail there in the summer, and I still find it there now. After a short study of the routes marked with different colors, I see that they all lead to the newly constructed section on the right bank of Vilnelė. After descending to the Pūčkiori outcrop, the routes diverge. You can choose the desired length according to your strength and desires, although the Pavilniai Regional Park calls it a choice of fate. The same fate awaits everyone until the Pūčkiori exposure, so without turning my head too much, I make my way down the narrow path across the meadow towards the stairs leading up.
I have not walked this section of the trail before, so it is quite interesting to walk. There are significantly fewer people here than on the old Pūčkiori educational trail. If it wasn't for that little stand by the suspension bridge, I might not have discovered this trail either. The route winds along the top of the slope, skirting the steeply sloping ridges and showing the Pūčkiori outcrop from a different angle through the tree branches. Exactly as written on the stand. And it seems that the time of year is the most suitable for this - the visibility is much better through the leafless trees.
Winding like a snake, the Pūčkiori educational trail passes through a grove of young birch trees, through a dark fir tree, through oaks that look regal even without leaves, which always remind me of Dubingi. The giants growing on the slopes of the castle look special there.
Frozen leaves on the ground and icy stairs require more attention - in some places the path is as slippery as ice. Especially on the uphills and downhills, which are not lacking on the trail. Having found such a place where even the devil could break his leg, Pavilniai Regional Park built a stand about antlers. The booth standing on the slope of the Tartum pulpit attracts travelers more as a place to take pictures than as a source of information.
This place is like a warm-up for those who are afraid of heights, because the trail continues to a viewpoint hidden in the forest. The Pavilniai Regional Park is rich in them. It would be enough to build a path and show what nature has gifted the regional park with, but the viewing platform with carved words of Pushkin is like a real pearl of the educational trail.
Let this sight be the main incentive to walk a new section of the educational trail, since the following object is already well known to the people of Vilnius. Some time ago, the renovated Pūčkiori exposure lookout with terraces and observation decks and rest areas elevates the Pūčkiori educational trail to the highest league.
It's a place to hang out. Especially if the weather is great. There is a 1,7-kilometer section separating the Pūčkorii outcrop from Belmont, which rises up and then starts to descend. The educational trail of Pūčkiori reaches the bunkers installed by the Poles, and the information stand standing next to them sends you to an easy knockdown. Before that, several stands of a new design with 3 routes have disappeared somewhere, and all information is now presented in old-style stands. However, another diagram of the Pūčkiori educational trail drawn on the stands that brought the biggest confusion.
It looks like someone has drawn a new route on top of an old map with an old route without erasing the old one first. Such a stand threw me a little off the track, but not from the path, so I continued to travel after reproducing the scheme of the new path in my mind. The bridge over Vilnelė, located near Pūčkiori palivark, is like a transport hub where pedestrian paths meet and diverge. Here, descending from the Pūčkiori outcrop, the Pūčkiori educational historical trail joins the ring. Here it comes together in exactly the same way Vilnius city municipalities the Pūčkiori trail has been installed. The Pūčkiori educational trail, which has followed one route until here, branches off into 3 branches. The route around Vilnius also passes through here. If you just went for a walk, no problem, but you will have to think carefully if you want to go on a specific path.
I chose a medium-length route that goes along the left bank of the Vilnelė river past the cannon foundry. There are several times more people here than in the section above the outcrop. Everyone is enjoying the good weather and the view of the Pūčkiori outcrop from below.
Belmont is inexorably approaching, and at the same time, the end of the 3,7-kilometer Pūčkiori educational trail route. The new information stands that were there before the Pūčkiori exposure disappeared with everything and I didn't see them until the end. Thus, the puzzle of Pavilniai Regional Park's educational trails remained unsolved. As if that wasn't enough, when I reached the end of the trail, I pulled out my phone, which... turned off. Why don't I go home without a route? Thus, there was an opportunity not only to pass the trail in a different direction, but also to find a solution to the maze of Pūčkiori educational trails.
Pūčkiori educational historical trail - I found this name written on one of the stands, and it turned out that it would be the most logical to call the educational trail that has been installed here for a long time exactly that way. He also owns all the old-style stands, which are now renovated. They also depict a diagram of the path.
Pūčkiori educational trail - a trail with 3 long circular routes marked on newly designed stands. I would like Pavilniai Regional Park to find the resources to build a few more stands and install attitude markings. This trail is in no way inferior to the Šilėnai educational trail and, together with other trails loved by the media, could successfully compete in the TOP10. There are many gifts of nature, but they, like all good gifts, need beautiful packaging.
