The swimming season has opened on the renewed beach of Lake Balsi

The capital cheerfully welcomes summer - the beach season has opened with concerts, entertainment on the completely renovated modern beach of Lake Balsi, which has become more comfortable, full of activities and safer - it has a modern lifeguard station with a medical aid station.

Visitors to the Green Lakes for the first time this season will be surprised by the organized and well-groomed beach environment: a new lifeguard has been built the station, equipped with modern deckchairs and a hammock park, an open-air reading room, fitness equipment and various sports fields. The territory is planted with mountain pines, decorative plants, newly formed spaces for rest, active leisure, picnics and entertainment. 

"The shore and beach of Lake Balsi have always been the center of attraction in summer, but there was a lack of amenities and various activities for meaningful recreation by the water. After renovating the beach area and building a new lifeguard station, this season we can safely say that this space is now worthy of being called the capital's beach. I invite everyone to the Green Lakes - an area of ​​active leisure and balanced recreation that will pleasantly surprise you. A total of 9 beaches await in the city, so on hot summer days there will be a place to immerse yourself in coolness and entertainment", invites the mayor of the capital Remigius Šimašius.

On all 3 main beach bridges UAB "Beam” equipped 25 comfortable modern loungers for those who like to sunbathe. For those who prefer quieter rest and shade, hammocks are hung in the nearby birch grove, and a small amphitheater is formed on the steeper slope. It will be comfortable to sit on the flat stones with a book in your hands - there is a book exchange library with about 300 books for readers of various ages and interests - from fairy tales to light summer novels. Books were donated to the library by employees of the municipality and its companies.

"For high-quality and comfortable relaxation of the people of Vilnius, we cleaned every corner of the beach, decorated the environment, and installed a drinking water fountain. We have created separate spaces where summer vacationers with different interests can rest, have fun and exercise at the same time. We were probably the first in Lithuania to offer vacationers free stationary beds. The result is really gratifying: we have created an aesthetic, comfortable and exclusive environment on the public beach of a big city. And all this infrastructure can be used by vacationers for free", said the director of Grinda company Kęstutis Vaicekiūtis.

The active leisure space has a hard ground court for the popular ball game (pétanque) - it is one of the first such playing places in Vilnius. Fans of the orange ball can look forward to a renovated basketball court, with new training equipment installed nearby. Two new beach volleyball courts, marked according to international standards, were also installed.

From the city, a popular bicycle path stretches through the forests towards Balsiai, winding along other small lakes that make up the Green Lakes group. With the installation of 16 new racks, bicycle lovers will be able to safely park their vehicles at the beach approaches without disturbing the peace of other vacationers.

In the picnic area, picnic tables and barbecues have been renovated and additionally built. 4 tables with benches are installed on the hill near the beach, 6 more are placed by the lake along the bike path. New stationary barbecues have been installed here, and trash cans have been provided.

The issue of hygiene is also important for quality recreation: the problem of the lack of public toilets, which annoyed vacationers considerably, was solved with the construction of biotoilets. The entire beach area is constantly maintained: garbage is collected and trash cans are emptied several times a day, sand and water quality tests are carried out regularly

Lots of music on the beach tonight. Ukulele lessons for young and old, several acoustic concerts, heart-pounding poetry and free Thai ice cream - all this will be waiting for you at the beach party organized for the second time today from 16:22 to XNUMX:XNUMX. 

On the renovated beach of Lake Balsi, you will be able to choose the activity you like the most - those who like acoustic music and dream of learning to play the ukulele can do so at the Small Amphitheater with Elena Augustinaityta - during the event, this young performer will teach the intricacies of this musical instrument to both children, beginners and those who are already a little advanced . The ukulele concert will be followed by poetry readings.

Radio will help set the mood on the main stage of the station Good FM music. For those who want to exercise, the Vilnius Public Health Office has prepared a special program: physiotherapists Inga Mastianica and Milda Navaslauskaitė will invite you to exercise with dance elements and relax with stretching exercises. On the same stage from 18 p.m. an acoustic performance by Domanto Razauskas will take place concert, and from 20 p.m. lovers of alternative rock will be delighted by the concert of the music group "Džemas". The evening will be crowned by a real party with the best DJ dance music.

The beach will also invite you to visit the good mood zone - the most delicious and natural Thai ice cream will be distributed free of charge throughout the event. Here you will also find a cheerful photo studio located on the beach, a space for temporary tattoos, and those who want active entertainment can try wave football or visit the mega twister with friends. The most curious at 17 p.m. there will be a free educational tour of the Green Lakes landscape reserve, which will be led by geographer Nijolė Balčiūnienė. 

There will also be educational activities: in the tent of the Vilnius Public Health Office, children and adults will be able to learn what the pyramid of healthy nutrition is and take the Mouse Memory Test. And Ignas Vaičaitis, the head of swimming training programs of the Fabijoniškių basin, will talk about safe behavior in the water and share useful tips.

The swimming season will last until September 15. A good summer mood will also await you on other beaches of the capital: Valakampiai, Žirmūnai, near Salote, Tapelei and Balzis lakes. There are also renovated volleyball, football, children's playgrounds, grill and picnic areas. Until September 15, 8 qualified lifeguards will take care of the safety of vacationers every day from 20 a.m. to 30 p.m.
