On November 8, the electronic opera "e-Carmen" returns to the Compensa concert hall for its only performance this year. The project of Dalia Ibelhauptaitė and Vilnius City Opera once began with theatrical concerts "XYZ - electronic opera fantasy", where not only the new sound of opera was tested for the first time, but also fateful friendships were formed. After the concerts, D. Ibelhauptaitė realized that it was worth starting to create a full-length electronic opera and knew that only Marijus Adomaitis (Ten Walls), a well-known electronic music composer who received classical music education as a child, could implement it.
And so, a couple of years ago, the first electronic opera was born in Lithuania, attracting crowds of spectators and receiving great critical acclaim: "It's hard to understand how Marijus managed to fuse many electronic styles into an organic, tasteful whole, preserve the spirit of the original and still embody it in a wise, delicate present-day the narrator - the electronics seemed to create a distancing effect in the performance, which did not allow us to forget the narrator broadcasting Carmen's story in another dimension." Of course, a lot of help from the young maestro - Ričardas Šumila - was needed to achieve such a result. Even before the premiere, the latter became a real translator between the electronic music composer and the classical opera soloists. he was the man who translated Maria's music into notes that both singers and string ensembles could learn from. And so the popular opera of G. Bizet found its new, XNUMXst century. form, and in it - the renewed heroes.
In the November performances, we will see Justinas Gringytė and Giancarlo Monsalva (Chile), who have enthralled the audience since the first premiere. The famous Lithuanian mezzo-soprano is appreciated not only by the audience of her native country, but also by the wider world of opera, which even awarded her the so-called "Oscar" of opera, an international opera award. Having played Carmen on several European stages, the soloist returns to the electronic version after a month spent at the Seoul Opera. And her colleague, after her original debut with VCO "e-Carmen", has already managed to create a portrait of De Grije in the Vilnius-based "Manon Lesko" and, of course, continue to travel around the world with the Don José party. Among his last stops we will find the opera houses of Montreal (Canada) and Hong Kong (China).

In the role of the passionate Eskamilios, we will see Laimonas Pautienius, who has been open to the challenges of this music since the first "bohemian" electronic projects. The soloist, who has been working in Germany for many years, admits that the only problem that befalls the performer after such experiments is memory training, jumping between two variations of the same piece, because M. Adomaitis's compositions, although completely "fresh", still retain Bizet's contours, thus outsmarting memory of the singers.
Well, next to the old-timers of VCO, Eglė Stundžiaitė, a second-year master's student of LMTA, a pupil of Irena Milkevičiūtė, claims to be the new discovery of November. The young soprano will perform the romantic part of Mikaela and, hopefully, with this debut, he will join the ever-growing ranks of VCO opera soloists, among whom we will also meet Rafail Karpis, Dovilė Kazonaitė and others in Compensa.
Finally, it is worth mentioning the impressive light show by Eugenijus Sabaliauskas, combined with opera music with the precision of a movie, as well as video projections by Rimos Sakalauskas. Having accumulated extensive experience as a designer for many years between theater, fashion and music shows, during "e-Carmen" E. Sabaliauskas revealed an unseen fantasy and was able to merge Carmen's theatrical nature and cold electronic cuts into one.
