September 19-20 in Vilnius theater "Lėlė" - premiere. The adventurous performance "Čipolinas", which invites children to travel around various theater spaces and join the action created by the actors, is staged by the director Šarūnas Datenis, who is well known to the audience of the "Lėlė" theater from the performances "There is no WI-FI in the village", "Pinokis", "Here was / is not here" etc. As in his previous works, he is assisted by artist Antanas Dubra and composer Vytautas Leistrum. The performance features: Karolis Algimantas Butvidas, Erika Gaidauskaitė, Šarūnas Gedvilas, Lijana Mushtašvili, Imantas Precas, Deivis Sarapinas, Dainius Tarutis. The play is based on the most famous tale "The Adventures of Cipolino" by the Italian writer and journalist, editor of several children's newspapers Gianni Rodari (1920 - 1980) (screenplay author - Titas Laucius).
Gianni Rodari stood out from other children's authors and still stands out for the fact that in his tales he not only talks about eternal values, but also, using the aesthetics of nonsense and humor, boldly criticizes political and social events: this is probably why he is still read with pleasure not only by children, but also adults. in 1970 the author won the highest international award for children's writers - the Hans Christian Andersen Medal.

The premiere performance of "Lėlė" "Chipolina" begins with the sudden arrest and imprisonment of Chipolina's father, Chipotle, because the picture of the Big Boss Tomato hangs one degree crooked. This is how the story of the uprising and liberation of unhappy vegetables boils... As the director Šarūnas Datenis says: "With this performance, we want to encourage children to think for themselves and rebel a little. Realize that we live in a democratic country and we don't have to blindly follow what we are told. We have the right to raise questions, share our ideas and oppose the government's decisions. After all, basically everything is very fragile: one thing is enough and suddenly you are no longer free, democracy is gone... So you have to be vigilant."
During this adventure-excursion, the children, together with the actors of the performance, will walk through the various backrooms and corridors of the theater, transformed by the artist Antanas Dubra into a world controlled by the cruel Pomidor. "Trying to accommodate as many theater spaces as possible, I tried to create the world of Pomidoros in which it is not very pleasant to live in: children's books are destroyed in the fireplace, there is only tomato juice in the cafe, and if there is already a cake, it is made of herring and the like. G. Rodari himself, when creating fairy tales for children, used a lot of opposites, as, for example, in this case - politic and vegetables..." - says artist A. Dubra.

According to the composer Vytautas Leistrums, the humor-enriched aesthetic prevails in this performance: the characters and events of "Čipolino" are bright, and the story is constructed in the manner of an epic action film - but it is a kind of parody of this genre, so the music and sound effects also create a soundtrack saturated with humor. In fact, director Šarūnas Dateni and I had a lot of laughs in the studio while writing songs, so I hope that the audience will also smile. I also hope that the audience will understand the deeper themes developed in the work through the prism of humor."
At the same time, the composer, like other creators, is happy with the close and well-known creative team: "I am very happy with our established creative trio. With the director Š. Dateni and the artist A. Dubra always find a common denominator, and among the serious things we talk about in the works, there is plenty of room for humor. It is especially nice that this time the video director Tomas Jokūbonius was added to the team - we are already familiar with him, together we created the Solo Ensemble video clip "We didn't have a song". We also worked with the talented playwright Titus Laucius, and Vytautas Novickas always worked on the lights and their programming."
The play "Čipolinas" is presented to the audience in two formats. In the "Tiketa.lt" system, the audience can watch the virtual version of the performance adapted for media distribution, and from September 19. we invite you to experience the performance live, in various theater spaces.
The creation of the performance was partially supported by LR The Ministry of Culture.
