in 2018 Friday, February 23, 16 p.m. The premiere of the children's play "About the Brave Thrush" will take place at Kirtimiu Cultural Center (69 Darius ir Girėno St., Vilnius). The performance is based on the well-known fairy tale of the same name by K. Kubilinskis. The script and decorations were created by the little visitors of the "Pađek pritapti" day center together with the director and actress Sigita Pikturnaite in the theater workshop that lasted throughout February.
In the activities held at the Kirtima cultural center, the children of the Roma and Naujininkai communities had the opportunity to get acquainted with the basics of theater art, delve into the specifics of creating a performance, and gain theoretical and practical knowledge of acting. The play "About the Brave Thrush" is also unique in that it is created and performed by the children themselves.
According to Sigita Pikturnaitė, "theatre is a great way to develop the abilities of both children and adults, improve speech, movement, and promote creativity. In addition, with the help of various games, children learn to express their thoughts more clearly, it is easier to communicate and focus. The way of playing animals chosen in the workshop gives children great freedom of expression to embody the characters they are playing, and allows them to reveal their own character traits."
The presented performance is part of the project "Bridge of Cultures", intended for school-aged Roma and children growing up in socially at-risk families. The project aims to promote and develop the creative potential of the participants, providing access to cultural and social knowledge. The creative activities that have been held several times have allowed children not only to get to know, but also to touch different areas of art and create together with professional artists.
The Kirtimų Cultural Center is carrying out the project in cooperation with the British Council since 2017. The "Active Citizens" program is being implemented in Lithuania, which focuses on the smooth integration of various problematic communities into society and promotes social changes.
Event free of charge.
