After a long break, family cooking shows are returning to the Baltic Food and Beverage Exhibition BAF. On Saturday, three international families, which unite the cuisines of Lithuania, Georgia, Italy and Russia, will not only cook, but also tell which kitchen is at home "takes over".
"The theme of this year's exhibition is "World Cuisine", so we want to show it as widely as possible. Therefore, we invited three families of mixed nationalities to the "Kitchen Studio". They will prepare several dishes and reveal how they manage to combine different cuisines in their daily family life, as well as which cuisine dominates the family. Or maybe another cuisine of the world reigns in their diet?", BAF exhibition project manager Lilijana Dirsienė intrigues.
One such couple is Modesta Žukauskaitė-Silvand from Lithuania with her husband Vadim of Russian origin. Modesta is the author of two books on healthy eating, and her husband is a professional yoga and fitness instructor. The couple tries not to limit themselves only to the traditional cuisines of their countries.
"My husband and I agree in advance who will cook. If we don't, we both hang out in the kitchen and cook something. Both my husband and I like to do this and we really have no shortage of imagination in this area. We are interested in healthy, balanced nutrition, which is why we complement each other perfectly and combine our ideas, different cuisines and try new flavors together," reveals Modesta Žukauskaitė-Silvand.
Modesta and Vadim will present two of their kitchen favorites to visitors, which they like to serve to their guests. These are healthy bars and oat meatballs that taste like meat and are perfect for those who want to easily switch to a healthier diet and give up animal products. The dishes are hearty, quick to prepare, tasty and suitable for weight loss.
Another couple - Gia and Viktorija Amkoladze will present Georgian cuisine and prepare a traditional dish - eggplant with walnuts. Gia likes to work in the kitchen together with his wife. "We are a tandem - when one cooks, the other helps. And in addition to Lithuanian and Georgian cuisine, we also really like Asian cuisine. There is a lot of it in our diet," says Gia.
"We invite everyone to discover different cuisines of the world. This can be done by visiting the stands of foreign guests, culinary shows, conferences held during exhibitions and the "World Kitchen" area, where different restaurants operate. Here we will pamper the little ones with traditional Italian ice cream", says L. Dirsienė.
