Some time ago, we interviewed Rimvydas Širvinskas - Makaliai and found out what, in his opinion, restaurants the best in the capital. We have received a number of requests to continue surveys on a similar basis. This time we decided to interview the organizers of "Dinner en Blanc" - Valda Lukošiūtė and Dovilė Butkienė. We really wonder what the opinion will be in this case.
Which 5 restaurants in the capital would you recommend to visit and why?
Management: St. Germain has been a favorite place for a long time restaurant, it is always worth a visit here and never disappoints, food, wine, atmosphere - everything fits perfectly. It's also fun to try new places - Gaspar's, Dublis, Sweet Root, Stebuklai are usually pleasant surprises
Dovila: It's great that Vilnius is becoming a real European metropolis and it's never boring here, new gourmet places are constantly opening here. I value harmony very much, so not only delicious food but also a cozy environment are extremely important to me. When I come to a restaurant, I want not only to have a delicious meal, but also to feel comfortable and well. The biggest influence on this is probably the people who work, their sincerity, flexibility and respect for the customer. My choice would be:
- "Astoria Brasserie" is a classic with wonderful views of the capital's old town. I feel very comfortable here. Neither the food nor the service will ever disappoint.
- "Tilto 12" is one of my most recently visited places. Very cozy place, delicious dishes and beautiful interior. There is even a small play corner for children and a children's table. So attention to everyone.
- Wine restaurant "Saint Germain" - if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but at the same time feel the spirit of the old town, and be sure that you will have a delicious meal - this is exactly the place.
- "Galo do Porto" - Amazing food and great atmosphere in historic Vilnius in the old town. The lingering Portuguese spirit only adds extra charm to this place.
- "Franciscans" because I prefer coziness. Very small, but also very cozy and gourmet place
It is said that Lithuanians like cheap and good. Is it possible to find a restaurant that fits this "cheap and good restaurant" category, or does it even exist in the city?
Management: I'm afraid I haven't found one yet, at least. Maybe in such cases it is better to cook a high-quality and loving dinner at home?
Dovila: Quality and lovingly prepared food probably cannot be very cheap... "Galo do Porto" or "Franciškonai" would probably be the restaurants where the price is a little lower and the food quality is exceptionally good.
The best coffee in town? What makes that place special?
Management: I drink coffee in the morning, so I choose places close to home - St.Valentino and Astoria Brasserie. I like quiet and unhurried places for my morning coffee.
Dovila: We can certainly find delicious coffee in our capital and I could probably mention more than one place. I adore the old town of Vilnius, the parks, so I will single out "Strange love". This is a real coffee restaurant. When you order a delicious, lovingly prepared coffee, you will always have water nearby, and while sipping coffee on the terrace of the second floor, you can enjoy the beautiful Bernardine garden.
Which bar is the best in town? Why?
Management: Somehow I don't have one favorite bar in town.
Dovila: Distillery. Maybe because even though I don't visit there often, I always meet old friends. Professional bartenders prepare delicious cocktails, and the interior allows you to enjoy the hustle and bustle of the bar or find a quieter corner for conversation.
Thanks for the answers.
