Untold culinary stories at Untold Restaurant

Often, when returning from work, you had to pass through Žalgiris Street, which was changing and modernizing at an exceptional pace: new business centers opened, new companies started to be established there, and even more people started working next to this street. Where there are people, there is a need to feed them. It is not surprising that business centers began to develop restaurants, offering something more than their neighbors. In the past, Žalgiris Street was dominated by fast food: kebabs and pizzas. Now you can choose something special because restaurant Untold is exactly that.

I will admit that when I go to a restaurant, I look at its menu and often wonder why other restaurants tend to hide their menu. Restaurant I found what I was looking for on the website and was pleasantly surprised by the uniqueness of the dishes. The price of the main dishes ranges from 9 to 29 euros, and there will be plenty to choose from. You will find not only unusual snacks, but also Japanese pasta with roasted mackerel, beef steak with octopus leg, even a whole octopus "Octopus Vulgaris", duck and chicken dishes. As I was reading, my saliva began to accumulate.

The scouting was done successfully, so the next step is a trip to the restaurant itself. The first time I visited, I was pleased with the feeling of space, though in a restaurant it can accommodate more than 100 guests, but at the same time it is a cozy place, the walls of which are decorated with marine-themed drawings, beautified with various interior accents, so the first impression was really very pleasant.

I had a few questions that were running through my mind, and the manager of the restaurant, Karolina Kumpinaitė, kindly agreed to answer them.

Establishing a high-level restaurant in Šnipiškės, how did you come up with the idea to open your own restaurant here? What potential did you see in this place?

Šnipiškės and the special location at Žalgiris street have changed a lot and become more active in the last period. Business centers have grown, transportation has become convenient, and housing in the area has increased. The location itself is favorable for the guest, because it is not a central catering place with intense attendance, less noise and uncomfortable traffic, easy and secure parking.

Why was the unusual name Untold chosen for the restaurant?

As we like to joke that we are inspired by the "shrunken world", because today you can reach even the most distant lands by plane, we want to be modern and create stories through tastes and smells, we travel by tasting. We want our guests to tell the rest of their family and friends those unforgettable stories afterwards.

What can you please because the most whimsical guests? What is your business card?

Our business card is, of course, quality grill dishes, which combine freshness, quality and precision for each dish. We try to create recipes as authentic as possible, for the natural production of the dish. Therefore, even the most whimsical traveler can remember the taste of hummus tasted in Israel only at our place. After all, today, sitting down at the table, it is extremely valuable to return to the most memorable travel experiences with the flavors. It is true that we became very famous after the launch of "Kasava" fries, we are the only ones in Vilnius who fry Manijok (root fruit) fries as a snack.

I didn't miss the opportunity to ask the chef Semion Loginov if he has to surprise the guests and why. Semion has worked for many years in Michelin-starred restaurants in London. He joined us in the middle of the conversation.

"We are very flexible for guests, but we always try to keep our basic ideas. We surprise our guests with new ideas for dishes both during daytime lunches and in the evenings or during private parties. I try to transfer travel stories to guests' plates every once in a while. Improvisation in our kitchen is a very common phenomenon, as regular guests need to be appreciated and surprised even in everyday choices. The updated menu is full of worldly improvisations, have you tried our NY Pastrami Beef sandwich?'' concluded the chef of Untold restaurant.

The sandwich is really tasty and just exploded the taste buds in a good way. As I mentioned before, promising was the first impression, which has not changed to this day, when you find something you don't expect in unexpected places, when you see the whole story on your plate, which the taste receptors of the tongue finally tell. There are more than one and more than two such untold stories that will allow you to experience the true taste of distant lands such as Morocco, Israel, Mexico, Japan or Argentina.
