In less than two years, a modern 1,8 thousand square meter building was built in the capital. sq. m Mykolas Marcinkevičius hospital extension with 87 beds, a two-level parking lot, solar collectors and partial greening of the roof. The new extension will allow all palliative care services provided in the city to be concentrated in one institution, and to expand treatment options for patients with internal and nervous diseases.
"I am glad that after several difficult years, we are not talking about new "covid-XNUMX" wards, but the opening of a new hospital extension, - said the mayor of Vilnius Remigius Šimašius. - Our city is growing not only with young people, but also with older people. And it is our duty to ensure that Vilnius residents receive proper health care at every stage of life, and that doctors have the best possible conditions and tools for this."
The new extension of the Mykolas Marcinkevičius hospital has 10 wards in intensive care and intensive care units, 15 in palliative care, 31 in geriatrics, and another 31 in neurology or internal medicine departments. Functional nursing beds, medical consoles with oxygen, and modern alarm system for help to the ward will be able to call for help even from a different floor than the hospitalized patient.
"We managed to do a great job: it was possible to expand active treatment therapeutic profile services, supportive treatment and nursing and palliative care services, reanimation intensive care wards equipped with modern equipment. I really hope that patients will appreciate the improved treatment conditions, the availability of services and their quality", said Vice Mayor Edita Tamošiūnaitė.
The latest clinical laboratory and level II resuscitation will allow providing high-quality services to patients who require artificial lung ventilation. An installed liquefied oxygen tank will ensure a continuous supply of oxygen from three sources. Solar collectors installed on the roof will produce energy and help reduce the costs of hot water preparation.
"I am pleased that the conditions for patients and employees will be significantly improved, and palliative care services will be concentrated for the people of Vilnius. The extension was built in an extremely short period of time, with minimal resources for today. It was obvious Vilnius city municipalities and an example of the institution's good cooperation, which will allow the patients of the city of Vilnius to receive better treatment and research conditions", said Rimvydas Turčinskas, the director of the hospital.
In the 24-space passenger car parking lot, it will be possible to park vehicles on two levels with a lift, as well as two charging stations for electric cars and four parking spaces for people with disabilities.
The old and new buildings of the hospital are connected by a willow that has been growing for a long time in the courtyard and is decorated with the new sculptural composition "Adam and Eve" by the sculptor Kęstutis Krasauskas, unveiled today.
The value of the Mykolas Marcinkevičius hospital extension is 5,7 million. euros. The Vilnius municipality allocated 2,98 million for the implementation of this project. EUR, the state - 1,34 million. euros. The hospital used 1,1 million to implement the project. Euro bank loan and allocated 290 thousand Euros of its own funds.
The works of the hospital extension were carried out by UAB "Jungtiniai projektai" according to the project prepared by UAB "Medstatyba".
