Tens of kilometers of new bicycle paths and improved streets, hundreds of renovated courtyards, even more greenery and light in the city - these are the works of 2022 that will change the living environment of Vilnius residents. More than 50 million have been allocated for infrastructure development. euros will help create more security and comfort.

Streets in the capital are managed according to 12 main principles. The main goals are to protect and increase the number of green spaces, to provide more space for pedestrians, to dedicate excess asphalt space to the development of bicycle paths and the creation of safer pedestrian spaces. From this year, even more attention is paid to the analysis of the streets and territories managed, and the assessment of their condition. For this purpose, UAB "Beam” competence center that thoroughly assesses the current condition of the pavement and helps to prioritize which streets should be treated first, after assessing their condition.
As in the previous year, this year too, great attention is paid to the installation and development of bicycle and pedestrian paths, as well as yard management, capital repair and reconstruction of streets.
More than half of the funds will be allocated to complex infrastructure - sustainable mobility, maintenance of streets and yards, planting of greenery on the streets and installation of elements that improve traffic safety.
It is also planned to repair more than 30 km of streets, 12 km of new ones will be installed and another 19 km of pedestrian paths will be repaired, and at least 14 km of bicycle paths will be installed.
In the course of the year, the list of planned works can be supplemented, taking into account the collected funds for improving the city's infrastructure and receiving data from less busy D category streets.
Vilnius residents will feel the positive changes closest to home. Dozens of worn-out yards and entrances to them, pedestrian paths will be maintained in various microdistricts. A total of more than 260 yards are planned to be fixed throughout the city. The courtyards were selected after consultations with district elders and residents, and it was assessed which courtyards are in the worst condition and require quick solutions. In the course of the year, after assessing the possibilities, the list is to be supplemented.
