Taking care of the safe working conditions of kindergarten teachers and their assistants, the municipality will start vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis this month. Deputy Mayor Edita Tamošiūnaitė emphasizes that vaccination against tick-borne encephalitis is the only means of preventing diseases spread by ticks, therefore, in order to organize children's education in outdoor spaces safely and qualitatively, it is necessary to take care of the health of kindergarten workers.
"Given the epidemiological situation in the country, the majority of children's education is organized outdoors. To ensure their safety, Vilnius city municipality measures are being taken to prevent diseases spread by ticks, the most effective and the only one against tick-borne encephalitis is vaccination", says E. Tamošiūnaitė.
The municipality, taking care of the health of the smallest workers, taking into account the specifics of the work of pre-school and pre-school education institutions and the growing number of cases of tick-borne encephalitis, made a decision to vaccinate all pedagogues who expressed the need. It is known that today about 2000 specialists and their assistants expressed the need for a vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis.
Such a decision was made at the beginning of autumn, because the specialists of the "Vilnius svieviau: good well-being office" (hereinafter referred to as the Office) of the capital city municipality warn that as the climate warms, the activity of ticks remains almost all year round.
Fresh air is essential for children
According to the Bureau's health specialists, a particularly important element of a healthy lifestyle for children's health is physical activity. They point out that it is especially important to form healthy lifestyle habits from early childhood.
Being in the fresh air and physical activity ensures the full development of the child's emotional and physical health: children's concentration increases, in the natural environment, the development of children's gross motor skills is faster. S. Herrington and K. Studtmann according to the research conducted, natural nature promotes the social, emotional and cognitive development of the child. Also, the benefit of meaningful outdoor play is extremely relevant – the reduction of bullying, conflicts and injuries that occur when children are in conflict.
The municipality, realizing the importance of a child's presence outdoors both for the development of his mental and physical health, and in the current situation of the country, in order to maximize protection against COVID-19, takes care not only of kindergarten workers, but also encourages all residents of Vilnius to stay alert and take care of their own and their children's health.
