On Saturday evening, thousands of residents of Grigiškii gathered in the town's church square and together lit the city's Christmas tree, symbolically marking the beginning of the new century, which stands out this year for its elegance, graceful elements and sentimental details from fairy tales read in childhood.
"In the recent period, the idea seemed to be in the air that the most important thing is not the size of the decorations, the pomp or the beauty of the events, the most important thing is that Christmas for all of us should become a time and occasion for random meetings and acquaintances. I am proud that, together with all the communities of institutions and organizations in Grigiškii, we will be able to offer cultural and educational activities to our residents throughout the month of December, during which festive meetings with neighbors are simply unavoidable. I am grateful to everyone for their extraordinary creativity and miraculous concentration," said Donata Lukašenkovienė, the elder of the Grigiškii ward.
For the first time in the history of the 100th anniversary of Grigiškii, a craftsman's fair was bustling during the celebration, where residents bought handmade gifts, various delicacies and goodies. The culmination of the evening was an impressive music and laser show and the staging of the Christmas celebration by even 50 actors-characters.
"This year, like never before, the festival was cozy, we wanted to stay as long as possible. And the carriage with horses reminds us of the fairy tale "Cinderella", even after returning home we will definitely read this fairy tale again", said Milda from Grig.
The organizers of the event, the Grigiškii Cultural Center, are happy that local businesses generously contribute to the realization of the city's Christmas events every year. "Thanks to business trust, every year we can offer Grigiški residents professional cultural programs that grow and enrich the community, this is very important for residents," said Jonas Auriukas, director of the Grigiski Cultural Center.
The organizers invite all Vilnius residents to come and feel the fabulous magic of Grigiškii in the new century.
