Vilnius residents will park their cars more neatly and conveniently in the courtyards of apartment buildings: this year, around 600 parking spaces will be installed in green honeycomb lots. The municipality of the capital ensured that the spaces of the existing courtyards between the apartment buildings were used more intelligently, where possible, the surface was leveled, reinforced with crushed stone and a special cellular coating was laid. The size of such green honeycombs is often the size of a basketball court.
Taking into account the frequent suggestions of the residents themselves regarding parking lots, this year the municipality has already arranged almost 4 square meters. meter area next to apartment buildings and equipped about 937 parking spaces. Cellular pitches have already been installed in the yards of Žygis, Architektų, L. Asanavičiūtė, Viršuliškių, P. Žadeika, Jonažolių, Gerosios Vilties, P. Paškevič-Ciotka, Tuskulėnai and Rinktinė streets. Soon, the work will move to the courtyards of Fabijoniškės and Viršuliškės districts, where the living environment will be managed and green beehives will be installed.
"For decades, yards in residential areas have been neglected, untidy and clogged with cars. We fixed the city's finances, so we found funds to pave the yards at a rate the city has never seen before, and now we have also covered the areas of the yard with honeycomb. There are 8000 apartment buildings in Vilnius. Order and cleanliness will come to each of them. We equip public spaces, build pedestrian and bicycle paths, and asphalt streets. However, we can achieve the most together, so I strongly invite you to use the Neighbors program and with the help of the municipality to renovate the courtyards according to your own needs," invited the mayor of Vilnius Remigius Šimašius.
Vilnius residents positively evaluated the pilot project - over the past few years, the first 12 parking lots were installed and more than 1000 parking spaces were installed: Fabijoniškių, Vokiečių, Taika, Riga, Architekų, Sietynos, Didlaukis, Vydūnas, Apkasų, Darius and Girėnos and Krivių streets.
