Another sports space is opening in Žirmūnai: the renovated E. Pliaterytė pro-gymnasium field

Vilnius city municipality in two years, 17 playgrounds at educational institutions have already been renovated, finishing works are being carried out in six more. Among these objects is the recently officially opened Emilijas Pliaterytė pro-gymnasium stadium Žirmūnai.

"It's no secret that there are already quite a few sports spaces in Žirmūnai, and in the future it is planned to establish large sports bases in the city, but Žirmūnas is the second most populous district of the capital. More than 16 people live in Žirmūnų street alone, where this school is located. people, so the need for sports infrastructure remains enormous. Considering the population, we aim not only to create new spaces here, but to renovate as many existing spaces as possible. Reconstruction of this stadium is one such project. Of course, first of all, this is a tribute to the school, but at the same time, we want the community of the surrounding neighborhoods to use the playground as well," said the Vice Mayor of Vilnius. The renovated pro-gymnasium court has two artificial surface basketball courts, a multi-purpose volleyball, tennis and square court with equipment that can be easily assembled and disassembled. There is an acceleration track for the jumping sector and a jumping pit with sand filling. Renovated 4-track, 250 m long running track. And instead of the old football field, a modern 2500 square meter football field with artificial grass that meets the requirements of "FIFA Quality" has been installed. In addition, a beach volleyball court, which was installed a little earlier, is available here.

The municipality of the capital allocated 330 thousand for the renovation of the stadium. The surface was installed and the equipment was installed by UAB "Sportinės dangos", the preparatory work was performed by UAB "Beam", lighting was provided by UAB "Vilnius lighting.

On the occasion of the opening of the field, the "Sport like an Olympian" organized by the municipality and the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee was organized in the gymnasium. event. During it, the European champion, multiple participant of the Olympic Games Robert Tvorogal, the coach of the Vilnius city sports center Jevgenij Izmodenov and other gymnasts of the center introduced the schoolchildren to sports gymnastics.

"Sports is necessary for everyone - not only children, but also older people. If we nurture sports, the nation will naturally be healthier," said R. Tvorogal, wishing for the best possible conditions for sports.
