Vilnius city municipality signed contracts on waste transportation, according to which two waste carriers remain in the city - "Ekonovus" and "Ecoservice." As the Vice Mayor of Vilnius told Elta Valdas Benkunskas, VSA Vilnius, which previously transported waste, is complaining about the results of the tender.
According to V. Benkunskas, the contract for waste transportation in the Center zone will come into force at the latest, two more started on June 1.
"The situation was simpler there, since the carrier did not change, so he did not have to do any preparation, and the carrier is changing in two zones - in the first "Verkių-Žirmūnų" carrier will start work at the beginning of September according to the agreed schedule, and in the fifth "Centro" zone, according to all the terms of the contract, it should start in mid-December," Eltai said V. Benkunskas.
According to him, two carriers remain in the city - "Ekonovus" and "Ecoservice", while "VSA Vilnius" does not remain.
"The center zone lost the VSA Vilnius company, which, it should be mentioned, appealed the results of the tender to the court, but the court did not apply temporary protective measures. As a result, we have the opportunity to sign the contract and start the preparation stage", said the Vice Mayor of Vilnius.
At that time, according to V. Benkunskas, the amounts of tolls will change - their amounts will be presented at the city council meeting on July 10.
"The amounts of tolls will change, at the council meeting on July 10, all changes to the provisions of tolls and waste management rules will be presented. We are also talking about changing the subjects of the payer base, where certain things will be deleted that were probably not right to be taxed - garages, empty gardens, plots and the like," said V. Benkunskas.
As announced on the public procurement portal, the total value of the purchase is more than 71 million. EUR with VAT.
So far, Elta has not been able to get a comment from VSA Vilnius representatives.
ELTA reminds that on May 1 last year, the waste removal reform came into force in Vilnius. Since that day, Vilnius has been divided into five parts. The northern, eastern and western areas are served by "Ecoservice", the central area by "VSA Vilnius", the southern area by "Ekonovus".
Waste management companies "Ecoservice" and "VSA Vilnius" Vilnius city municipalities informed the administration last year that it wanted to stop the service provision contract due to the losses incurred.
