The railway bridge built over Dubysa in Raseiniai district, Lyduvėnai is expected to be ready for visitors in September 2020, reports "Lietuvos žinios".
Vygantas Kilčiauskas, director of the Dubysa Regional Park, told the daily that the decision to turn the longest bridge in Lithuania and the highest in the Baltic States into a convenient observation point was made after discussions with the Lithuanian Railways.
"It was agreed with Lietuvos Geležinkeliais that they will take care of all the works of adapting the bridge to the needs of visitors, and VSTT will take care of financing these works from EU structural funds," said the head of the regional park.
The first wooden bridge in this place was built in 1916, it was destroyed during the war. A new reinforced concrete bridge for train traffic was completed in 1951 and was built by German prisoners taken by the Soviets.
