The Vilnius Regional Court has imposed a final fine of 1,4 thousand euros on Justas Rudžianskas, who smoked cannabis in a church, the prosecutor's office announced on Thursday.
In a criminal case heard on appeal, the man is accused of disrupting religious ceremonies at Vilnius Cathedral.
According to the pre-trial investigation, at noon on July 2024, 28, J. Rudžianskas, born in 1986, arrived at the central church of the capital, where the main Sunday mass was being held at that time.
The accused entered the cathedral wearing a mask covering his face and a colorful wig. While walking towards the high altar in front of the faithful, J. Rudžianskas used a leaf blower and a censer containing hemp fibers, which he was carrying, creating smoke from the burning hemp fibers.
According to law enforcement, in this way the man was interfering with religious ceremonies.
