After receiving help from other institutions in registering war refugees from Ukraine, the Migration Department plans to gradually restore the reception of residents in a live queue this week.
"We plan to be able to partially restore service to citizens in a live queue from tomorrow. Not everywhere, not all the time, but we will be able to restore it in small units," Director of the Migration Department Evelina Gudzinskaitė told BNS on Monday.
On March 7, the Migration Department suspended service for Lithuanian citizens in a queue due to the increased need for assistance for the residents of Ukraine. After the start of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, the number of Lithuanian citizens applying for a change of residence increased considerably.
"Now we accept only by registration, at the moment the registration is even until June. Starting tomorrow, we plan to restore partial reception to live queue, and we will probably do this gradually everywhere. Everything will probably be fine next week," said the head of the Migration Department.
According to her, this is made possible by the help provided by other institutions in registering war refugees and Ukrainians who came to Lithuania.
"Almost 300 people are missing throughout Lithuania, we are starting to receive help from municipalities. The municipality of Šiauliai is giving today, from various institutions of the Ministry of the Interior. We already have the capacity and therefore we are starting to restore services," she said.
