A little more than a week ago, the news spread across Lithuania that a ticket bought in Pakruoji won 5,4 million euros in the international lottery "Vikinglotto" connecting ten countries. After a while of silence, the owner of this ticket finally answered. When he arrived at the representative office, the winner emphasized that he wanted to remain anonymous, but still shared several details of his success story.

He bought the ticket by buying grave candles

The player bought the lucky "Vikinglotto" ticket on the afternoon of October 31st at "Maxima" located on Statybininkai str. 4, in Pakruojie. He was preparing to visit the graves of his relatives, so he stopped by the store for a few candles. And while standing at the cash register, he decided to grab a lottery ticket as well.

"The extent of success here is helped by the circumstances. In the same Vikinglotto game, players from as many as ten countries participated, who had purchased a total of almost 10 million number combinations. And the main prize - the Pot of Gold with 5 euros - was won by one. It was that combination of seven numbers that landed on our compatriot's ordinary ticket purchased on Monday," explains Renata Mozuraitė, the marketing manager of Vikinglotto's organizer in Lithuania, Olifėios.

He learned about the win from a relative

The winner did not watch the "Vikinglotto" broadcast on the evening of November 2, during which the lucky numbers were announced in Norway. Being engrossed in work matters, he did not rush to check the ticket the next day either.

However, the player was encouraged to do so by a relative he met, who shared the news he had heard that a ticket bought in Pakruoji brought someone millions.

"The winner keeps a cool head both after learning about the enormous success that has come his way, and now, after some time has passed. As he himself said, in addition to great joy, he also feels a great responsibility to use that money properly. First of all, he plans to allow himself and his relatives to rest and travel. He also mentioned that he will definitely donate a part of the winning amount to medical institutions and charitable organizations. In order to help assess possible prospects and risks, we also offered the winner the help of specialists and financial consultations," says R. Mozuraitė.

The second "Vikinglotto" millionaire in Lithuania in a year

During 2022, Vikinglotto has already won 14 Pots of Gold. According to the frequency of winning this main prize, Lithuania ranks high among the ten participating countries - third.

"And among the Baltic countries we are in general the first - neither in Estonia nor in Latvia nobody won the Vikinglotto Golden Pot this year. Meanwhile, we even won two: in March, a ticket bought in Utena brought in 5,8 million euros, and now a no less impressive sum - 5,4 million euros - was won by a ticket bought in Pakruoji. And here we are only talking about this year. It should not be forgotten that last February the Vilnius resident also won 13 million euros in the Vikinglotto lottery. Such big and frequent successes show that Lithuanians are really successful," says Olifėjas marketing manager.

Vikinglotto lottery is organized in Lithuania, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Slovenia, Belgium, Estonia, Latvia, Iceland and Sweden. Players from these countries compete every Wednesday for the Gold Pot, which ranges from €3 to €25 million.
