Former Minister of Transport Marius Skoudis appointed to the Board of the Bank of Lithuania (LB).
The decree providing for this was signed by the President Gitanas Nauseda, the Presidential Palace announced on Tuesday.
M. Skuodis' candidacy for president was submitted by Gediminas Šimkus, Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank.
M. Skuodis headed the Ministry of Transport and Communications in 2020–2024, was the Vice Minister of Economy and Innovation in 2018–2020, and before that he headed the International Relations Department of the Bank of Latvia - at that time, on his initiative, technical assistance projects were implemented for the central banks of Ukraine and Moldova.
Last August, Jurgita Šaučiūnienė, Head of the Corporate Services Department, left the Board of the Bank of Latvia due to personal circumstances.
In addition to G. Šimkus, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Lithuania includes his deputies Asta Kuniyoshi and Julita Varanauskienė, as well as Simonas Krėpšta.
