"Energijos skirstymo operatorius" (ESO) informs customers about changes to electricity tariff plans: from July 1, the "Efficient" plan, which is convenient for customers who consume more electricity, is launched, the "Namai plius" plan is being discontinued, and the "Išmanus" tariff plan is changing its name to "Standartinis", but its conditions remain the same.
"The ESO tariff is one of the components of the final electricity price - it is the price of the transmission service, which is reflected in the electricity bill as a separate line and is paid regardless of the chosen electricity supplier, therefore we inform customers who will be affected by these changes about the alternatives offered to them. Until July, consumers will have time to assess which plan suits them best. It is easy to choose and order the most favorable plan based on consumption habits through ESO self-service, using a specially created tariff plan calculator. This calculator evaluates the customer's individual electricity consumption based on smart meter data and calculates which of the possible tariff plans is most economically beneficial for the customer," says ESO public relations representative Rasa Juodkienė.
For those using "Namai Plus" - "Namai"
As of July 1, the "Home Plus" plan, which was usually chosen by customers with the highest energy consumption, will no longer be valid. If ESO customers using this plan do not choose another plan by June 30, their current "Home Plus" plan will be automatically changed to the "Home" plan that is closest in terms of conditions.
"As the number of generating consumers with power plants has grown, the number of customers of the plan "Namai plius" intended for the highest consumption has been constantly decreasing in the past few years. In addition, "Namai plius" was essentially focused on a very similar customer group as the plan "Namai" that continues to be valid, therefore, having two similar plans, where a fixed rate is paid per month, no longer makes sense," says R. Juodkienė.
An ESO representative notes that, in response to market changes, the company is seeking to streamline pricing so that customers can easily identify which tariff plan is most cost-effective for them, and the choice is simple, rational, and convenient.
The "Home" plan is optimal for those customers who consume more energy: from 2,3 thousand kWh per year.
"Efficient" - lower tariff, power cost
The "Efficient" plan will also come into effect from July 1. This plan is suitable for customers who use their allowed power efficiently, i.e. they have chosen the allowed power as close as possible to the actual household consumption demand, rather than the maximum, and their energy consumption is even and stable.
"The advantage of this plan is a lower price per kilowatt-hour of transmitted electricity. Those who choose this plan will be charged a fixed monthly rate per kilowatt of permitted power. The lower the permitted power with higher consumption, the more profitable this plan is. It allows ESO customers to save money if they do not keep excess power as a reserve," notes R. Juodkienė.
According to ESO specialists, this plan may be beneficial for customers who consume more than 60 kWh per kilowatt of allowed power per month. For example, with a "Standard" tariff plan for one time zone and a 5 kW allowed power, the "Efficient" plan will be cheaper if at least 300 kWh is consumed per month.
"Such a model of charging customers for the capacity they order is applied in many European countries and is considered fairer in relation to each customer. It is based on the principle that the customer pays according to the capacity they actually choose - that is, the more capacity they order, the more they pay, and if they choose a smaller capacity, the costs are reduced. This not only ensures a fairer pricing principle, but also encourages consumers to responsibly assess their real need for electricity, avoid excessive reservations and thus contribute to more efficient management of the energy system," says R. Juodkienė.
"Smart" becomes "Standard"
The "Smart" tariff plan is changing its name to "Standard" from July 1, merging with the currently valid plan, while its terms and prices remain the same. Users who are on the "Smart" tariff plan until June 2025, 30 will automatically be switched to the "Standard" four-time zone tariff plan from July 1.
"The conditions and prices for ESO customers who have chosen this plan will not change, and when announcing the name change, we will also inform about the "Efficient" plan, because it may be more favorable for some customers if the permitted power is optimal and more electricity is consumed," says R. Juodkienė.
