Stricter selection criteria for foreign countries where an application for a temporary residence permit in Lithuania can be submitted have been approved.
According to the notification of the Ministry of the Interior, according to the new procedure, when selecting foreign countries, the Migration Department must take into account the interests of state security, foreign policy priorities, labor market needs and institutional capacities.
In addition, the Migration Department must consult with the Department of State Security, the State Border Guard Service and police.
The methodology used to determine the number of foreigners served in each department of the external service provider was also approved.
Currently, it is estimated that the largest number of foreigners register for visits in Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan branches of the external service provider
The Ministry reminds that the possibility for foreigners to obtain a temporary residence permit in Lithuania while abroad through external service providers has been available since 2023. January 1 This year, the number of outsourced departments has been reduced from 34 to 31.
Last year, 29 applications for a temporary residence permit in Lithuania were submitted through the branches of the external service provider. The largest number of applications were submitted in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
