The Ministry of Energy will allocate 8,5 million euros for compensation to residents who have installed modern heating equipment.
The call for support will be announced on July 1, and compensation will reach residents within 30 calendar days, the ministry announced on Monday.
"This is a great opportunity for residents to more quickly equip their households with modern heating technologies, reduce their energy costs and at the same time improve the ambient air quality in Lithuanian cities and towns," said Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas in a statement.
After updating the procedure, support will be provided only to those residents who have already changed their heat production unit and submit a payment request for reimbursement of costs along with the application.
"Such a change will ensure that residents make a faster decision to acquire renewable energy sources and receive compensation as quickly as possible," the ministry said in a statement.
Support will be provided for the installation of new, unused, class five certified biofuel boilers or ground-to-water, water-to-water, air-to-water and air-to-air heat pumps, if such heating devices are intended for heating a dwelling.
According to the ministry, an average of about 3,5 thousand euros in costs can be compensated for replacing an inefficient boiler with a heat pump, and about 1,5 thousand euros for installing a class 5 biofuel boiler. The specific amount of support will depend on the selected heating technology and its heating capacity.
