As the cold period of the year approaches, hundreds of social organizations are preparing to ensure that the table of the poor does not remain empty.
On October 25-26, the charity and support fund "Food bank" invites the country's residents to participate in the biggest charity event - "Food bank" in the campaign, which is held in Lithuania for the twenty-eighth time.
Thousands of "Maisto bankas" campaign volunteers - public figures, schoolchildren, socially responsible business volunteers - will ask the needy to buy canned food, flour, oil, groats or other non-perishable food products, when meeting shoppers in supermarkets.

The weakest are hiding behind this number - children, the elderly, single mothers, families with many children, and the disabled. Although deprivation is a complex phenomenon, a person can solve other problems that befall him only after satisfying his physiological needs. Therefore, I sincerely thank each and every one who contributes to this act of kindness. I give special thanks to the municipalities of cities and districts, which have been helping to coordinate the campaign for several years and inviting people to donate to the needy in their region," says Simonas Gurevičius, director of "Maisto bankas".
In the "Maisto bankas" action held in the spring of this year, benefactors donated food products worth more than 479 thousand. euros. Donated food products reached 366 thousand thanks to 61 social organizations last year. the table of poor people.
Pasta, groats and oil are mostly donated during the "Maisto bankas" campaign. According to "Maisto bankas", the poor lack protein-rich food the most, so this time they will be asked to donate meat, fish or canned legumes more often.
