In the latest ranking of universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia (QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia, EECA) Vilnius University (VU) maintains a high position in the list of the best higher education institutions in the region.
Having scored 78,56 points out of a possible 100, VU ranks 20th in the EECA ranking. This year, VU is among the 5 percent. institutions that have performed best in the rankings.
Compared to last year, this year's ranking has improved academic reputations (eng. Academic Reputation) assessment - 87,4 points (in 2019 it was 86,2), the assessment of the international research network significantly improved - 97,9 points. The number of academic staff/students (eng. Faculty Student) evaluation index – 82,4 points (in 2019 it was 80,8).
When evaluating scientific production indicators and the number of citations according to the Scopus index, VU is in the highest position in the fields of natural sciences, life sciences and medicine, engineering and technology.
In the EECA ranking, universities from the countries of Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia were evaluated. This ranking uses the same data as the QS World University Rankings, but changes the weightings of the indicators, and also introduces new indicators, such as the number of academics with a doctorate degree, the university's online visibility according to Webometrics universities evaluation of online visibility, frequency of citation of scientific works.
The QS World University Rankings are based on academic reputation, reputation among employers, student-faculty ratio, citation index, number of foreign faculty and students. VU ranks 423rd in the world university ranking published in June this year.
