A brown bear that has been worrying Vilnius residents for several days, wandering around the city's suburbs and even being spotted on Ukmergė, Tarandė and Riešė streets, has finally been found in a safe place - in the Pabradė forests. The Lithuanian Hunters and Fishermen's Association reported this this morning, sharing a photo of the bear peacefully feasting deep in the forest.
"Latest information about the Vilnius bear. It was recorded early this morning (~7.30:XNUMX a.m.) in the Pabradė forests. It is relaxing and enjoying itself," the report reads.
This bear has become a real internet sensation in just a few days - its appearance in the northern districts of Vilnius has caused considerable concern for both residents and responsible institutions. However, according to conservationists, the bear probably accidentally wandered from the forests of Belarus or eastern Lithuania, and the stress it experienced prompted it to wander around in an unusual environment.
Experts say the animal now appears healthy and calm, so it is likely that it has returned to its safe, natural habitat. Drones and surveillance cameras used by hunters also helped determine the bear's location.
At the same time, the Lithuanian Hunters and Fishermen's Association invites residents to help make this story even more humane - In the comments section, please suggest a name for this unexpectedly famous bear..
We remind you that brown bears are considered extinct in Lithuania, but in recent years they have been increasingly recorded arriving from neighboring countries. Although they usually avoid people, an unexpected encounter can be dangerous, so experts urge you to always call for help in such cases and never try to approach the animal yourself.
