At the world exhibition "EXPO 2020", which will be held from October 1 half a year will be held in Dubai, the Lithuanian pavilion has already been built. Its installation is currently being completed.
The Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for our country's appearance in Dubai, has been preparing for this exhibition for three years.
"Expo 2020 World Exhibition is a special chance for Lithuania to expand international relations in the fields of economy, science and culture, to create a good image of the country. As many as 194 countries will participate in it. The Ministry of the Environment already has a successful experience of seven global EXPO exhibitions, but it is very important that business, scientific and cultural people contribute as actively as possible during the preparation of the exhibition", says the Minister of the Environment, Simonas Gentvilas.
The Lithuanian exposition will be installed in the graceful and colorful pavilion of almost a thousand square meters that has already been erected, which was designed by the architects of the small association "Baukas", which won the competition. It is built on a 15-acre plot. The first thing that catches the eye of the visitor is the wooden open entrance portal. Our pavilion blends harmoniously between the neighboring Swedish and Slovenian pavilions, which are also dominated by wooden structures that are still unusual in Dubai.
The tree motif is continued inside the pavilion. Here, the main exhibition "Kinetinis medis" is organized by the exhibition company "Mart Pro", which won the competition. Although traditional motifs are also used, a lot of attention is paid to the latest technologies developed in Lithuania, circular economy, renewable energy and other modern solutions. All the electricity required for the exhibition will be supplied by the double-sided module solar power plant installed in the pavilion, manufactured by the Lithuanian company "SoliTek".
A shop selling Lithuanian products and souvenirs will operate inside the pavilion, and a modernly equipped cafe will present national cuisine. The Ministry of Environment will be assisted in choosing a commercial activity operator by the currently renewed inter-institutional coordination commission for preparation for the exhibition. The program of the National Day of Lithuania, which will be held at the exhibition on October 22, and other business and cultural events will be discussed with her.
Although the EXPO 2020 exhibition was postponed for a year last year by the decision of all participating countries due to the global pandemic, the preparations, although somewhat slowed down, did not stop for a single day. It looks impressive that almost all the objects built by the organizers of the exhibition have already been completed: the central Al Wasl dome, under which all the most important events will take place under vaults events, thematic pavilions. Also, the "EXPO" village has already been built and equipped, where the employees of the pavilions of all countries will live, a new metro line has been built, etc. The construction of the pavilions of most of the countries participating in the exhibition is also nearing completion.
The exhibition is not expected to be postponed again. It will start in 2021. October 1 and half a year will be held under such conditions as they will be at that time. The previously predicted number of visitors - 25 million - may decrease due to possible restrictions, but the organizers of the exhibition are not in a hurry to change it yet. The name of the exhibition does not change either - although it will actually take place in 2021-2022, it will continue to be called "EXPO 2020".
