98 thousand children from Vilnius have already applied for child support this year. The municipality invites parents who have not yet applied for the benefit since January to do so, because the law provides for the return of the benefit for the last 12 months, so those who have not done so this year risk losing part of the child's money for the entire year. Those who have already applied for child support do not need to do anything beforehand.
Universal child benefit is awarded to persons who live in Lithuania and have declared their place of residence in the capital and raise children up to 18 years of age. Child benefit is paid each month for the previous month and can be refunded for the previous 12 months. This means that even if the parents applied for the allowance in 2018 in November, the benefit will be paid for the entire period from 2018. January 1 Therefore, everyone who is still entitled to the payment, but has not yet filled out the necessary documents, is invited to do so quickly and receive the payment for the entire year.
Poor and large families with 3 or more children receive an additional 15,2 euros for a child aged 2 to 18 years and older, if he is studying according to the general education program, and 28,5 euros for a child under 2 years old in addition to the universal child benefit. This allowance is also given to children over 18 years of age who are studying according to the general education program (including those studying in vocational training institutions), but no longer than until they turn 21 years old.
A resident raising a child under the age of 18 only needs to apply once for periodic benefits. This can be done electronically through the social support information system www.spis.lt, send copies of documents by registered mail, or simply come to the social support center of the city of Vilnius (Kauno str. 3) and submit a written request (the request can also be submitted by an authorized person). At the same time, it is necessary to submit an identity document and the number of the personal bank account to which the payment will be transferred. According to the statistics of the Department of Statistics, a total of about 110 persons entitled to receive child support are registered in Vilnius.
