Little by little, the cherry blossoms are starting to bloom in Sugihara Sakura Park in Cijune. Figuratively speaking, the cherry blossoms are on the verge of "explosion".
Every spring, the blossoming of cherry blossoms attracts crowds of Vilnius residents to the right bank of the Neris River, and if meteorologists' forecasts are to be believed, the coming weekend will be dedicated to walks in the cherry blossom park.
On October 2001, 2, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Cijunė Sugihara, on the right bank of the Neris, near White bridge, an avenue of 200 Japanese sakura trees was planted next to the National Art Gallery. The words of the founders of the park are written on the monument placed at the entrance, declaring that these sakura trees are a gift from the Japanese people to Lithuania, intended to strengthen friendly relations between our countries.
