President of Alytus "Wolves" team and former basketball player Rimantas Kaukėnas for driving under the influence of alcohol, for driving with an expired driver's license, he was fined, his right to drive a vehicle was revoked for six months, and he will also have to drive a car with an "alcoblock" installed for another year.
Although R. Kaukėnas was stopped for drunk driving on May 5, the decision regarding the penalties imposed on him was made at the Vilnius County Chief Police Commissariat (AVPK) almost two months later - on June 23.
According to Julia Samorokovskaja, Head of the Communications Sub-Department of the Vilnius AVPK, the decision was postponed several times at the request of the representative of R. Kaukėnas.
According to the representative of the capital's police, R. Kaukėnas was brought to administrative responsibility not only for drunken driving, but also because he presented the authorities with a driver's license that was no longer valid. Penalties for the former basketball player are imposed in accordance with Article 425, Paragraph 1, Article 422, Paragraphs 5 and 6 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
"The person drove a vehicle with an expired driver's license, as a result of which he was fined 30 euros, the person was also fined 800 euros, the right to drive a vehicle is revoked for 6 months and the person is obliged to drive a car with an "alcoblock" for one year, - about R J. Samorokovskaja spoke about the punishments for Kaukės.
ELTA reminds that on May 5 at night, around midnight 0 min., a report was received that a Porsche Cayenne car is making dangerous maneuvers in Vilnius, on Albert Goštautas street. When the police officers stopped the mentioned car, it turned out that it was driven by former basketball player R. Kaukėnas, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of 30.
After this incident, R. Kaukėnas himself distributed a message in which he said he apologized for his act.
