On the eve of the European Mobility Week, the President Gitanas Nauseda walked to work on Friday. He also pointed out that the National Mobility Challenge initiated by the President for the third year in a row starts with the European Mobility Week on Saturday.
"We are starting a two-month mobility challenge, during which we hope that we will take a lot of steps, contribute to nurturing a green Lithuania and, most importantly, take care of our health", - on the way to the presidency In Užupi G. Nausėda told reporters after pausing.
This year, according to the president, participants register for the national two-month challenge in 7 categories, over 100 have already registered. participants.
"I am very happy that this challenge is gaining more and more ambition and I hope that this year will not be an exception," noted the head of the country.
However, G. Nausėda is in no hurry to promise whether he will walk to work more often in the coming weeks.
"I don't want to promise, because sometimes I'm not the master of my time. But I definitely try to move when I have a spare minute. (...) Regarding walking, I still have untapped reserves," said the president.
It is reported that his team also went to work with the president in an environmentally friendly way on Friday.
The ambassador of the European Mobility Week, the Ministry of Transport and Communications announces that the traditional European Mobility Week will be held in Lithuania on September 16-22 - the world's largest sustainable movement campaign. This initiative will connect communities around the world for the twenty-second time, and to participate in the 2023 more than 2000 cities in Europe and other continents are already preparing for the movement week.
At that time, according to the Presidency, more and more participants join the National Mobility Challenge every year: in 2021. 23 thousand participated in the challenge. participants, and in 2022 - 95 thousand participants.
