Today, the Capital City Council will consider an important issue for senior citizens of Vilnius - to announce a tender for the operator of the "Seniors' Hive" and the tenant of the premises. Currently in vacant and unused premises Žirmūnai the municipality plans to establish a unique space for older citizens of Vilnius. After announcing the tender for the operator of the "Senior Hive", the winner would be announced in March, and he could start operations in the rented premises within 2 months.
"The main goal of the "seniors' beehive" we are creating is to establish a space for Vilnius seniors to meet, be active, create, strengthen their health, so that they remain active, involved and busy members of society as long as possible. I believe that this "hive" will bring together Vilnius people of respectable age, the news of good times will spread widely, and the capital will become the city of the most smiling seniors", said Povilas Poderskis, Director of Administration of the municipality, about the project.

J. Kubiliaus str. The 2nd "Avilys", where you will be able to get the most necessary services and participate in various activities, will open its doors in the spring. This place was not chosen by chance - there is a well-developed infrastructure around, convenient communication with Žirmūnai, Antakalni and other districts, a number of elderly Vilnius residents live in the area. Here it will be possible to learn languages, computer literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, arts, horticulture lectures will be given, a living library will be held, and seniors will be able to learn first aid. In addition to educational activities, Vilnius residents of decent age will be able to engage in handicrafts, artistic activities, visit cinema, theater, music, photography, book, and cooking clubs, seniors will be able to participate in brainstorming, play board games, and socialize in the seniors' club cafe.
Seniors who want an active way of spending their free time will be able to participate in sports and dance classes, get massages, and listen to healthy lifestyle lectures. Elderly citizens of Vilnius will also be able to visit the hairdresser, as well as participate in group or individual psychological consultations, support groups, and if necessary, visit the first aid office.

The future "seniors' beehive" will gather non-governmental organizations and communities that will provide and organize multifaceted, complex services for all seniors, actively involving NGOs, communities, individual citizens, who will continue to provide their suggestions and ideas on how the beehive should operate and what needs to meet.
As needed, the "senior hive" will also provide emergency transportation services, repair workshops, a day care center for seniors and the disabled, and seniors will have the opportunity to receive legal advice. And those who look after grandchildren will be able to visit the daycare center for preschool and school-age children with them.
