Residents of Vilnius who did not take their potassium iodide tablets last year will have their prescriptions extended. Prescriptions will be extended, it is planned, from March 15. Residents can check whether the prescription has already been updated on the esveikata.lt page.
In cooperation with the Registry Center, the Vilnius Center Polyclinic will update its e-mail address. a prescription for potassium iodide tablets for all residents who declared their place of residence in the capital until 2021 and did not take their tablets last year. When email prescriptions will be updated for all residents, the municipality will inform in a separate media release. Residents themselves can apply for e-mail. there is no need to update prescriptions anywhere.
Potassium iodide tablets will be available for pickup on the website jodas.vilnius.lt in specified pharmacies.
New residents of Vilnius who have declared their place of residence in the city since 2021, as well as babies since the war in Ukraine Ukrainians settled in Vilnius will be provided with potassium iodide tablets after an additional order from the Ministry of Health (SAM) is delivered. The municipality will inform about this separately.

We remind you that potassium iodide tablets protects the thyroid gland only from the harmful effects of radioactive iodine. These tablets should be taken only after special notification by SAM. Timed intake of potassium iodide tablets blocks (saturates) the thyroid gland with stable iodine and thus prevents the accumulation and damage of inhaled radioactive iodine.
No other iodine preparations protect the thyroid gland in the event of a nuclear accident - neither spirit solutions of iodine or iodine sprays for the treatment of the oral mucosa, nor food supplements with iodine.
