"Perhaps the most important reason for abandoning bicycles is the changing market of postal services, when residents send and receive more and more parcels, while the amount of delivered letters and subscription publications decreases. For this reason, it has become impractical to deliver heavier parcels by bicycle, given their limited load capacity, so from 2022. they gradually began to be abandoned", LP representative Lukas Zadarackas told the portal, confirming that the aim is to sell all 210 postmen's bicycles.
He also clarified that another service launched at a similar time, the mobile letterman, is not related to the strategy of distributing electric bicycles to postmen and is successful.
Initially, the goal was to sell 25 bikes at 500 euros per unit, but later their price was reduced to 125 euros.
The bicycles were manufactured by the Lithuanian company "Baltik Vairas". The price of one bicycle with a bag in LP was 1,5 thousand. euros.
