The landslide that occurred on the southern slope of Mount Gediminas at the end of July Lithuanian National Museum hope to fix it by the end of August.
"Currently, all the soil that has slipped has already been removed, and drainage pipes have been laid in the area of the landslide. After the rubble has been poured, plaster will be laid to strengthen the soil in the area above it that was not affected by the landslide," the representative of the museum told BNS this week.
"The work is intended to be completed by the end of the month," states the reply.
A small landslide occurred after a 24-hour period of very intense rain, but it was a subsurface landslide, so there was no threat to the stability of the mountain.
According to the museum, the condition of Mount Gediminas is relatively stable at the moment, and the sensors do not record significant shifts.
This year, the National Museum of Lithuania has already signed a preliminary contract with the company "Rekreacinė statyba" for the final renovation of the southeastern part of Mount Gediminas.
The works should take three years and cost about 13,4 million. euros, but the museum is negotiating with the ministries regarding the financing of this project.
The state of the mountain is concerned after the large landslides that occurred in February 2016. Then it was temporarily forbidden to visit it, an emergency was declared.
