Our preparedness depends on knowing where to get the necessary information and doing our homework in advance. Only by being informed and prepared can we act confidently and calmly in the event of any crisis, disaster or emergency. Let us remember – knowledge protects!”, says Minister of the Interior Vladislav Kondratovič.
Mobile app LT72 will become an important and convenient tool that will help residents prepare in advance for emergencies - from natural disasters to nuclear accidents or military threats.
The app not only provides useful information or knowledge tests, but also features an interactive map of Lithuania with warning sirens, collective security structures, shelter networks (in case of danger), and evacuation points for residents that may be needed if evacuation is necessary. The mobile app is also adapted for people with disabilities.
By downloading the app to your mobile phone, it is planned that you will also be able to receive a warning message about impending danger.
After the app is presented to the public, various communication activities will be carried out, which will contribute to the advertising campaign of this app and broad public education in the field of civil protection. The project will include planned communication in regional media, social networks, television, and in major cities. in public transport, will be organized events community leaders.
The mobile app development service contract and other related activities are funded by the European Commission (EC) project I-SPREAD (in English – Innovative Solutions for Public Readiness and Emergency Disaster management in Lithuania) funds. This EC project aims to improve the preparedness of Lithuanian society for emergency situations and increase its awareness in the field of civil protection.
Currently, the population's preparedness for emergencies is still not sufficient. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 52 percent of the population knows how to behave in an emergency, and 53 percent have accumulated the necessary supplies for three days. In recent years, the number of people who know where to look for information about where the nearest shelter is has increased.
