Today, by order of the Minister of the Environment, Kęstutis Mazeika, two more days a year have been set when everyone will be able to fish for free - February 16, State Restoration Day, and March 11, Independence Restoration Day.
On those days, you can fish for free, without amateur fishing permits, in all state inland water bodies for which fishing area permits have been issued (in leased ponds) and for which fishing area use permits have not been issued (in unleased ponds) and where limited fishing is not organized, as well as in the Nemunas delta in water bodies of the regional park (with the exception of the botanical-zoological reserve of Kroki lanka). However, amateur fishing permits are required for fishing in water bodies where limited fishing is organized, in private water bodies and in the sea on those days as well.
The Minister of the Environment Kęstutis Mažeika also registered the amendments to the Amateur Fishing Law, which after its adoption would give the right to fish for free to persons not under the age of 16, as is the case now, but up to the age of 18.
