Lithuania Post issues another stamp, the author of which is not a professional artist, but a child. This is ten-year-old Kira Čaikos, a former pupil of Vilnius kindergarten-school "Saulutė". She participated in a competition held in the fall of 2022, during which children aged 3-16 are invited to create their own stamp on the theme "My pet".
The face value of the new postage stamp is 1,55 EUR, the circulation is 20 thousand. pcs
The children's stamp drawings that participated in the aforementioned competition were evaluated by the Postage Stamp Publishing Commission, which selected three winners. The stamp with the design proposed by the first winner - a rabbit - appeared last year.
The third stamp created by children with a pet is planned to be issued in 2025.
In this way, the Lithuanian Post Office, which invited us to create a postage stamp, not only sought to release children's creativity, but also to interest them in the often exotic-sounding field of philately.
Every year, Lithuanian Post issues about 20-25 postage stamps. The themes depicted on Lithuanian postage stamps are approved annually by the Postage Stamp Publishing Commission. The latter selects objects, commemorations of historical events or phenomena important to the entire country.
