The Belarusian human rights organization in exile "Our Home" operating in Lithuania has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, the organization informed on Monday.
The nomination was announced last week by the International Peace Bureau.
According to the report, "Our Home" awards are offered for the organization's activities and support for Belarusians in this country and in the European Union.
The process of preparing all the documents required for the nomination is currently underway.
The office also nominated the Russian conscientious objector movement and the Ukrainian pacifist movement for the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to the office, these organizations help individuals who oppose war and mobilization, the nominations aim to promote peace, human rights, and put pressure on countries around the world to respect the right to refuse military service.
The International Peace Bureau has had consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council since 1977. The organization has associate status in the Department of Public Information.
The Office also plays a key role in the activities of the Geneva Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations' Disarmament. Similar committees also operate in New York and Vienna. The organization monitors various disarmament negotiations within and outside the United Nations.
