At the basketball support event organized by Mindaugas Kuzminskas and "Citadele" bank, dedicated to collecting funds for the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee (LPOK), it was possible to see the volunteers of the support group of Rimantas Kaukėnas. Prominent Lithuanian basketball players did not hide that this is not the first time that they have joined forces for charity, because spreading the idea of charity together is much more meaningful.
This time, the citizens of Vilnius, who collected LPOK funds with their accurate shots, together with the bank "Citadele" not only donated EUR 5 to the activities of the committee, but also contributed almost EUR 000 to the activities of the support group of R. Kaukėnas.
"We have already worked with Mindaugus - he, like other fellow athletes, always kindly agrees to contribute to the group's activities in fulfilling the dreams of seriously ill children and their families. This one event only proves that working for two noble goals is even more meaningful and effective. After all, support is not only money, but also good emotions, attention shown and increasing public awareness", said R. Kaukėnas about the support event.
During the event, Vilnius residents, city guests, basketball and LPOK representatives were pleasantly surprised by the act of one of the volunteers of R. Kaukėnas' support group - he decided to sell the won original NBA basketball with the signature of M. Kuzminskas by auction.
"I won a ball while participating in a basket throwing tournament to raise support for LPOK - at that very second I thought, why not do a double good job and try to sell the ball and donate the money to R. Kaukėnas' support group?" Within 15 seconds, the initial price of 40 EUR rose to 250 EUR. It was enough to take a small step, but together we did a big job," Arminas Vareika, the initiator of the spontaneous auction, shared his impressions.
"After deciding to organize a support event, we first sought to draw the public's attention to the current issues of athletes with disabilities, we hoped for people's involvement and support for our initiative. The bank's partnership with the R. Kaukėnas support fund, which was born during the event, only proves that noble goals and good works are perfectly compatible with each other and that they do not need special occasions to realize them - it is enough to unite and act together", said Rita Simanavičiūtė, director of the Corporate Communication Department of Citadele bank.
