After the government decided to allow ski centers to operate on Monday, some ski slopes will remain closed due to movement control between municipalities.
One such track is on the Kalita mountain in Anykščiai.
"We are not planning to open, because there are still restrictions on movement between the municipalities, and we will not have as many local residents," Ligita Kuliešaitė, director of the Anykščiai district municipality administration, told BNS.
"Probably it won't pay for people like us - smaller ones, maybe it's more relevant here for Vilnius," she added.
Jonava also tends not to open the ski center, but the decision is to be taken together with the municipality on Tuesday.
"For now, we are inclined not to open, as only very few Jonava residents will be able to use it (...) We will decide tomorrow," Edmundas Mulokas, the head of the Jonavos paslaugos company, told BNS on Monday.
According to him, the non-opening of ski slopes is encouraged by the remaining movement control between municipalities and the ban on renting inventory.
"If the inventory is not allowed to be rented, then only a very small part of the local people will stay", said the company manager and regretted that the ski center will remain inaccessible to the people of Kaunas.
Ignalina is considering opening on the weekend
The director of the Lithuanian Winter Sports Center in Ignalina, Bronislavas Cicėnas, told BNS that due to the restrictions set by the Government, they will have to spend a few days preparing, but it is planned to open the doors to skiers next weekend.
"There are a lot of restrictions here - it's not like you open it, put the car key in, start it and that's it. What a three days for sure. We plan to open for the weekend", said B. Cicėnas.
He also regretted that only residents from the municipality where the ski center is located will be allowed to ski.
"But there is a problem - movement between municipalities is prohibited. If there will not be a lack of customers in Vilnius all the time, then in the district, I think, we will run out of customers on weekdays", said the head of the center.
"Inhabitants of neighboring municipalities always came - from Visaginas, Zarasai, Utena, then there were also from Kaunas, Vilnius. I don't know if we will have enough customers," he added.
According to him, another shortcoming is that inventory rental is prohibited, and the center would be ready to disinfect it additionally.
"If non-grocery stores with a separate entrance are allowed to operate, it would be good if one person could enter the rental point at the same time and rent that inventory," thought B. Cicėnas.
Plunge will be waiting for the fans on Tuesday
The ski center "Mortos kalns" located near Plunge is planning to receive visitors already on Tuesday.
"We have everything ready. We are probably going to open tomorrow," Saulius Gramauskas, head of the company managing the tracks, told BNS.
He also claimed that the movement control and restrictions imposed by the Government will hinder the activity a little.
"Of course it will interfere (...) It's not worth it, but what are you going to do?" We don't have the right to choose", said the head of the company.
The Liepkalnis ski center in Vilnius is also planning to open and is currently looking for employees.
"We hope to open soon, so we are urgently looking for ski slope operators," the center's Facebook page says.
The government decided on Monday that ski centers can open, but set specific restrictions.
Tickets to the tracks will have to be sold only electronically, visitors can be registered remotely. The provision of ski equipment rental and services other than ski slopes is still prohibited.
Limitation of the flow of visitors must be ensured at the place of ski slope services - the maximum number of visitors allowed at the same time is calculated based on the number of operating lifts: no more than 30 visitors may be required per lift.
Open ski centers will be able to open already on Tuesday. Closed complexes, such as "Snow Arena" in Druskininkai, will continue to be closed.
