The first problems in the Vingriai springs square, which opened a week ago. Everything was nice and tidy on opening day, and after a while the water was turned off. As it turns out, this is not a malfunction.
The municipality promises to resume the water flow as soon as the leaves fall. Those who want to see the renovated square will not see it in all its glory these days, because the municipality has deliberately turned off the water flow.
"The water flow in Vingriau Square has been stopped due to falling tree leaves, which are severely clogging the water drainage system. The flow is likely to resume as soon as the leaf fall is over. We want to emphasize that the water in the square flows naturally, so its release does not cost the municipality extra," he comments. Vilnius city municipality.
From the sources of Vingria from the Middle Ages to the XNUMXth century. water was supplied to townspeople's houses. The gurgling water in the square even today reminds us that here was the most important watering place in Vilnius, providing drinking water to many Vilnius residents. The historic watering place has been re-marked - the spring water has been brought to the surface and flows through a special open channel that ends in a spiral pool.
We remind you that Vingria Square was opened on October 18. It used to be a transit-filled, car-clogged street. From now on, the square will be dedicated to pedestrians who can quickly get from the Old Town to the New Town and will serve as a space for leisure.
It is located in the neighborhood of Vingriau Square MO Museum dedicated seven contemporary art sculptures to the public space. They form a single MO Museum continuation of field exposure.
