At the Lithuanian pavilion at the world exhibition "EXPO", which will begin in Dubai in five months, the flag of our country was raised to mark the end of its construction.
The symbolic ceremony of cutting the ribbon and raising the flag, as said by the General Commissioner of the Lithuanian Exposition, Head of the EXPO Department of the Ministry of Environment, Romas Jankauskas, was held at the time when the representatives of the participating countries gathered for the last meeting before the opening of the exhibition. 370 envoys from 173 countries and 24 international organizations arrived in Dubai. A total of 190 countries should participate in the exhibition.
Pavilions in many countries are being completed or under construction. The already completed Lithuanian pavilion of almost a thousand square meters attracts the eye with its graceful wooden structure. It is located on a 15-acre plot. Installation of the indoor exhibition will begin soon.
Twelve guides-interpreters will work in the pavilion. They were selected through a competition a week ago.
The half-yearly exhibition will begin on October 1, and on October 22, the Lithuanian National Day will be celebrated. On that occasion, the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra and famous opera soloists will perform.
The Ministry of Environment, which is responsible for our country's appearance in Dubai, has the successful experience of seven global EXPO exhibitions. The exhibition in Dubai has been in preparation for three years. Due to the pandemic, EXPO 2020 was postponed for a year last year by the decision of all participating countries. Although it will actually take place in 2021-2022, it will continue to be called "EXPO 2020".
The exhibition in Dubai will continue the tradition that began with the first World Expo in London 170 years ago.
