The government decided on Wednesday not to support the proposal to oblige "Regitra" to warn drivers about the upcoming expiration of civil liability insurance and technical inspection from January next year.
According to the Ministry of the Interior (MIA), insurers and technical inspection service providers are already reminding about the expiry of insurance and technical inspection - such a service can be ordered free of charge online or after a technical inspection.
The government has requested a conclusion Seimas, who started considering the amendment to the Law on Safe Traffic for Cars on Roads initiated by the "worker" Ieva Kačinskaitė-Urbonienė. The Seimas will base its final vote on the amendments on the government's conclusion.
The amendment provides that five working days before the end of the insurance contract and the expiration of the validity of the technical inspection, "Regitra" will notify the owner about this by e-mail or SMS message.
According to the parliamentarian, it would not be difficult to implement such a procedure, because even now "Regitra" informs the owner that the car's participation in traffic is stopped after the expiration of the insurance or technical service, but the company should also warn about this in advance.
From July 2022, 1 to July of this year, 26,7 percent ordered reminders about the expiration of the technical inspection online or upon arrival for a technical inspection. of drivers, from whom about 96 percent wanted to receive a reminder via text message, and e. by mail - 4 percent
