16 people have already purchased potassium iodide tablets with electronic prescriptions. residents of Vilnius, the Center of Registers informed.
After automating the issuing of prescriptions in the e-health system, Vilnius residents can purchase the preparation to protect the thyroid gland during a nuclear accident from Tuesday.
"During the first day of this medicinal product with e. bought 12,5 thousand by prescription Vilnius residents. In total, according to the e-health system data, from Tuesday to Wednesday at 11 a.m. potassium iodide tablets already purchased about 16 thousand residents of the capital", Diana Vilytė, Director of Service Management of the Registry Center, informed BNS.
In total, more than 0,5 mln. potassium iodide e. prescriptions - whether it has already been created, residents can check by logging into the e-health system. It will be valid for a month.
As the Vilnius municipality announced, residents of the capital city can get potassium iodide tablets free of charge by presenting an identity document and pick them up at the "Eurovaistinė", "Camelia", "Gintarinė vaistinė", "Norfos vaistinė" and "Benu" pharmacy chains.
The Registry Center emphasizes that prescriptions can be automatically written without the mediation of a family doctor thanks to the capabilities of the e-health system and the automated solutions developed by the center's specialists. Prescriptions are formed according to the instructions of the Vilnius municipality administration to the Center polyclinic.
In total, the Ministry of Health has distributed 4 million. potassium iodide tablets to 16 municipalities located 100 kilometers from the Astrav nuclear power plant in Belarus.
Lithuania criticizes the safety of the Astrave nuclear project and is ready to boycott electricity from the power plant, Belarus rejects the criticism. The first reactor of the power plant is planned to be switched on in the first quarter of next year.
