The spring migration of amphibians is already a known and well-known phenomenon to most of the townspeople. In response to changes in air temperature, in the spring, amphibians migrate in large groups to spawning grounds - water bodies. Very often, amphibians are forced to cross roads, and here they are crushed by moving cars. Extremely abundant migrations are observed in Pavilniai Regional Park, in the vicinity of Pūčkiori, in New Vilnius at the Rokantiškii pond and in Ribiškės. In part of these territories, the Directorate of Pavilniai and Verkiau Regional Parks has been organizing campaigns for the protection of migratory amphibians for many years. Primitive mesh fences are built on the sides of the road, and buckets are dug to collect frogs and carry them from one side of the road to the other. Assisted by volunteers, citizens sympathetic to nature conservation.
As the weather gets warmer every day, frogs and toads wake up. Specialists of the directorate noticed the first awake amphibians and started their annual activity - building temporary protective fences. Like every year, such fences stretched across Pūčkiori Street. However, taking into account the large number of migrating amphibians, this year an additional fence was built in the section of A. Kojelavičiaus street near the burial mound of New Vilnius.
