On Thursday, a tool was presented at the Presidency, which should help citizens find opportunities to contribute to the defense of the state during a military conflict.
"Not everyone will defend the state with a weapon. Yes, we will need strong military power and armed forces. However, the added value of the civilian element, their added value, which will be necessary to enable our military forces to operate successfully, will be no less important," said Tomas Godliauskas, adviser to the president on national security and defense issues, at a press conference on Thursday, presenting the tool supplementing the State Defense Plan.
With the presented tool, starting from Thursday on the website of the Presidency, after answering questions about your gender, age and current activity, you can find out the role expected for a citizen in the State Defense Plan and find useful links with information about it.
The new tool groups the possible activities of citizens during state defense into four main categories: carrying out armed defense, continuity of the state economy and vital functions, taking care of persons in need of assistance, and providing general support.
"There is no point in collecting data now. The aim is that this possible human selection algorithm would allow them to answer the question, where could I be (during state defense - ELTA)", T. Godliauskas explained at the press conference
"This model will continue to expand, information will be updated. (…) In the near future, our goal is to create a certain possible choice for business or non-governmental organizations from those possible tasks important to the state, so that they can align with one or another task of the State Defense Plan according to the nature of their activities," he noted.
According to the adviser to the head of the country, the preparation of this tool was initiated by the president in order to implement the goals set out in the State Defense Plan and the principles of universal state defense Gitanas Nauseda.
ELTA reminds that the State Defense Plan was approved by the State Defense Council (VGT) last November.
This plan, which was created in cooperation with representatives of various organizations, business associations and companies, envisages seven main directions, each of which contains about 30 tasks, including the role of individual citizens and organizations in national defense in case of war.
The plan has three main goals - to encourage citizens and companies to proactively seek a place in national defense, to provide clear answers regarding the forms of their participation in national defense, and to complete the "document hierarchy architecture".
